Welcome to Georges Wood - an area of woodland in the heart of Suffolk, England in memory of George Fagg who died on Good Friday 2003, aged 27.

This blog is to record and share with George's family and friends the planting of the wood, which began in Spring 2011, and its ongoing development.........

Arrival and Planting of the Trees

Arrival of trees – transportation – staking out the terrain – first planting – the pictures are all self explanatory, though with too much self-exposure!

Below I am including just a few of the messages which represent the amazing response I have had to the planting of a wood in George’s memory.  Your encouragement and support has meant a lot to me.

With all your involvement and contributions I feel that this is no longer simply my idea and endeavour, but is now our joint venture inspired by George himself with “Trees”.  Not only that, but in some way together we are also honouring the “Friends” and “Family” on his list and can say with complete confidence that it is what he would have wanted.  And finally, I believe the wood does not just pay tribute to George, but it is also part of his legacy to us! So thank you George!

“I'm so pleased the plan for this wood it is going ahead. I remember George's list, and always thought we should plant trees for him”.

“What a beautiful idea.”

“I think it is a beautiful and incredibly special way to commemorate George. He is with me so often in so many wonderful memories. I cannot believe that it has been eight years already.”

“It is good to keep these memories alive and special.”

“Wow! That's brilliant! Your vision - and George's - is really growing.”

“I personally have often remembered George and wanted an outlet for those tender memories. It therefore fills me with a sense of joy to be able to celebrate George with others who remember him fondly in such a remarkably fitting way.”

“This sounds like a wonderful idea and I am so glad that there will be something tangible to remember George for now and many years to come.  After such an early end to his life he deserves to be immortalised in such a beautiful way.”
