Another
Good Friday and yet again we remember the passing of George and note the
passing of time. But this year I would like to express through a couple of
poems what is Eternal within us all
– both George’s spirit and ours - where we can celebrate the Easter message
and be together in Peace and Love.
The
first poem is from “A Forest Hymn” by William Cullen Bryant which I hope is
brought to life in the photos that follow, where creation is seen to be finished
in its timeless beauty, yet at the same time renewing itself with such
vigour, in Georges Wood.
My heart is awed within me when I think
|
|
Of the great miracle that still goes on,
|
|
In silence, round me—the perpetual work
|
|
Of thy creation, finished, yet renewed
Forever, written on thy works I read
|
|
The lesson of thy own eternity.
|
William Cullen Bryant.
And appropriately, a self seeded "forget-me-not"!
|
This second poem by William Blake is a reminder of
the sheer joy that was so much part of George’s being, as expressed
through his humour, his love of music and his love of life.
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
A HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL
