Welcome to Georges Wood - an area of woodland in the heart of Suffolk, England in memory of George Fagg who died on Good Friday 2003, aged 27.

This blog is to record and share with George's family and friends the planting of the wood, which began in Spring 2011, and its ongoing development.........

Autumn/ Christmas 2016

Summer has been and gone so this blog features the fruits of Autumn – photographs taken by our good friend and neighbour, Jan, while walking her dog Shem in Georges Wood. This is a ‘Christmas’ blog which is a time when we traditionally remember those not with us - especially family. So here is a poem that pretty much sums up how I feel. I hope you like it!!

He is Gone

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your
back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

Before the Autumn pics, here are a few photos of some of those who visited Georges Wood this summer.

Our friends from France - Cecile (standing in front of the oak tree she sponsored) and her children, Ernest and Jeanne

In a den built in the wood - is it grandson Alfie or a yellow-eyed binocularsaurus?

Jessica - granddaughter looking very sweet!

Our old friend (who is also elderly!) Alison from London

And now the wood in Autumn - Thanks Jan for these lovely pictures.

George’s ‘What I Want Now’ reflects many of our own desires, especially at this time of year to be with family and friends, but there is only one item on his list apart from Love that reflects our deeper selves and that is “Peace.” All the others come and go with the passing of time, even the trees will not live forever! But Peace and Love are eternal. Christmas can sometimes be a busy and stressful time but here is the Christmas message in different form:

Peace
It does not mean to be in a place
Where there is no noise, trouble
or hard work. It means to be
in the middle of those things and still
be calm in your heart.
                                    (unknown)

Wishing you all a Peaceful
and Happy Christmas
