Welcome to Georges Wood - an area of woodland in the heart of Suffolk, England in memory of George Fagg who died on Good Friday 2003, aged 27.

This blog is to record and share with George's family and friends the planting of the wood, which began in Spring 2011, and its ongoing development.........

Christmas 2019

Welcome everyone to Georges Wood. Its winter and we need wellies to walk in the wood, wearing waterproof windcheaters to weather the  wet and the wind.

Colours have drained from the wood leaving it dank and grey but as always there are the signs of rejuvenation – the trees already have buds waiting to burst and the snowdrops are poking their heads up getting ready to match any snow that may fall in February. The pond is fully replenished after summer’s evaporation and the roots of the trees enjoying quenching their thirst.

Just a few pictures this time of Autumn colours plus my ‘Nature’s Christmas Card’ with festive lights. Here is a little poem to put you in the mood for wandering through our wonderful Wood whilst not forgetting whose wood it really is:

A Still Moment

Take a moment.
Put the worries behind.
Take in the beauty around.
Let it relax your mind.

Watch the golden glow
Of the rising morning sun.
Embrace the peaceful aura
Of the break of dawn.

Savor the soft caress
Of the gently moving breeze.
Listen to its nifty tune
Among the swaying trees.

Enjoy the lovely scene
Of a floating butterfly.
Graceful flight and happy tweets
Of a bird perched up high.

Peruse the evening sky
In its dazzling splendor.
The wide and open pallet
Merging shapes and colors.

Relish the loving sight
Of children having fun,
Skipping feet and carefree voices
Under the setting sun.

Spare a still moment
Every once in a while.
Take in the beauty around.
Take it in with a smile.
